Micah turned 10 weeks yesterday, and we love watching him grow, laugh, and even cry. He is a happy kid with the perfect amount of energy! Lindsay returns to work on Monday, so pray that the transition goes well. We have a great woman who will care for Micah throughout the week!

Our day in Grand Marais - so fun, we decided to stick around for another!

Traveling Man - Ely and Grand Marais, MN

Image
Micah took his first road trip, and though the first 45 minutes were brutal on the parents, Micah fell asleep in the car and we made it 250 miles in a mere 7 hours. The hospitable and gracious Bevis' invited us to take over their cabin for a few days in Ely, MN. It is a beautiful Swedish Stuga that breathes welcome and rest. During our time in Ely we spent the morings sleeping, going to the coffee shop and touring the town. In the afternoon, Lindsay was able to rest, and Kyle went for canoe and kayak rides. One afternoon, Char Robinette offered to come over and watch Micah so that we could go for a romantic canoe ride and swim together. Char and Bob are the nextdoor neighbors and our good friends who just moved to Ely (full-time) in August. Saturday morning we went to the historic Burntside Lodge (one of the million places to visit before you die) for breakfast with Char and Bob. It was a wonderful morning overlooking the lake and enjoying good conversation. Char and Bob were so he...

8 weeks goes by too fast

Image
It is hard to believe that Micah is 2 months old tomorrow! I am not sure where the time has gone, but it definitely has not gone to my schoolwork. I look forward to a schedule in the coming weeks as Lindsay goes back to work, I start teaching, and we both try to find some sense of normalcy. We are grateful that our parents are coming to help out during the first two weeks of the return to church. Micah is cute and adorable, and it is extremely hard to not think of him as perfect. The other night I simply prayed - Lord, I will make big mistakes as a dad, but let thenm not be so big that he remembers. I love being a dad, especially with Lindsay as the mom! (Pray for gorver he is feeling quite left out!) Enjoy the pictures.

Updating the blog...

Image
Well, the cry has been heard (by the readers, not just Micah) that I have been quite behind with the blog updates. We returned from the Micah World Tour last Monday, and ever since I have been trying to resettle in my office (both at home and church). It was an invigorating trip, and Micah was loved by all. He is growing rapidly, he is smiling often, and he is quite the looker. But let's get to the real deal - the photos. Here are some photos from the trip - we hope yuo enjoy. Lindsay and I are planning to take more pictures today, and we will post them later this week.

THe long silence

Well, there have been no posts or photos because we are on vacation (Kyle is on a work trip to Portland - sad to be away from son and mom). We return home on July 23, and we will update the pctures. Micah is growing and smiling, and proving that life is wonderful - kyle

OMaha...Somewhere in middle america

Image
Micah earned his wings this week on a flight to Omaha, Ne. The hometown of daddy, his grandparents and the College World Series (in honor of grandpa armfield-Go Ducks!) Last night was Grandma Small's 50th birthday, and so we had friends over for cake and playtime (there were 6 children under 6 here - I think that Micah could be an only child...) The Carlson's, Williamson's, and Bulgrins came over to celebrate. Seriously, we all had a wonderful time. Micah was able to meet his upcoming partner in sublime, Chase Porter Williamson. His dad, Jeff and Kyle grew up together at Covenant Cedars Bible Camp. I think that we will send a picture of Chase and Micah to CCBC to announce the arrival of the next generation. Micah is loving Omaha, especially his cousins and grandparents. He sleeps well (but woww, is he noisy!), and his parents sleep okay, but we are loving the help from grandma, grandpa, Kari and Eric. Connor and Carter are relatively helpful - definitely entertaining.

Micah's first July 4

Image
The report of July 4 as relayed from Micah: I love holidays - I don't have to go to work, I sit aorund - visit neighborhood pools, meet kind people, and eat my favorite foods (okay, I eat whatever my parents give me). Daddy ran a 10, that's 6.2 miles according to my new conversion calculator, and he did it while I went to the bathroom sevral times and while mom fed me. It was good to see him. During his run, I sat quietly in the stroller in my 4th of July outfit from Bryce and Carol Baker. Petra Causton - she is like a full two and three-quarters years old, WOW!, she took care of me during the race- she said that she was a babysitter - I like her. After the race, we talked with our friends, Petra's mommy and daddy, Jeff and Kris Causton, and others, and we had a great time. (By the way, Jeff and Kyle finished the race at 57:07. We spent the afternoon at the Studer's and Connie Phillip's, Kim Gallogly's mom's. We had a great time talking with new and old frie...
